After you arrive for your treatment, a simple blood draw will be performed. A small amount of blood is drawn from patients and placed into a tube. The tube is then placed in a medical centrifuge device that isolates and purifies the platelets. Once the platelets are gathered and separated, they are injected into the scalp. Dr. Blades will administer a special nerve-blocking anesthetic on your scalp to keep you comfortable.
After PRP or PRF therapy, you can expect mild redness, swelling, warmth or a sensation of tightness just after your treatment. This usually disappears within a few days. Bruising is possible. Most patients feel they can resume all activities of daily living immediately following their appointment.
A series of 3 PRF hair restoration treatments spaced 4 week apart yields the best results. To maintain hair growth, maintenance treatments should occur every 6 to 12 months.
