Hidden away in your blood platelets are numerous growth factors that can keep the tissues all over your body healthy, resilient, and strong. Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy is an innovative treatment where the powerful growth factors found in your own platelets are harvested and are then used to stimulate your skin and hair’s natural regenerative processes. The advantage of PRP therapy is that the physician injects your own blood into your skin tissue, removing any risk of a negative reaction. Platelet-Rich Plasma therapy is a very effective treatment for facial skin rejuvenation as well as treatment for hair thinning or hair loss.
Whether you are male or female, if you are suffering from hair loss, Platelet Rich Plasma therapy can offer you a non-surgical treatment that will stimulate hair growth in areas that are bald or thinning. Injection of PRP into the the scalp can stimulate our hair follicles to become healthier and larger which promotes the growth of thicker, fuller hair and reduces hair loss.
The health and safety of our patients and staff is of the utmost importance. Blades Wellness and Aesthetics is now open for Platelet Rich Plasma Hair Treatments by appointment only. If you would like to schedule an appointment, please contact our office.
After you arrive for your treatment, a simple blood draw will be performed. A small amount of blood is drawn from patients and placed into a tube. The tube is then placed in a medical centrifuge device that isolates and purifies the platelets. Once the platelets are gathered and separated, they are injected into the scalp. Dr. Blades will administer a special nerve-blocking anesthetic on your scalp to keep you comfortable.
After PRP therapy, you can expect mild redness, swelling, warmth or a sensation of tightness just after your treatment. This usually disappears within a few days. Bruising is possible. Most patients feel they can resume all activities of daily living immediately following their appointment.
A series of 3 PRP hair restoration treatments spaced 4 week apart yields the best results. To maintain hair growth, maintenance treatments should occur every 6 to 12 months.
