You should not undergo hydrogen inhalation therapy if you:
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding (unless cleared by a physician)
- Have a history of chronic respiratory disorders not evaluated by a doctor
- Are under the influence of alcohol or recreational drugs
- Have an implanted electronic device (consult your healthcare provider)
- Caution should be used in any patient on blood thinner medication. Hydrogen therapy can improve circulation and doses of blood thinner medication may need to be reduced if using hydrogen therapy.
Hydrogen inhalation is generally regarded as safe at therapeutic concentrations (typically below 4% in air).
However, as with any procedure, there may be risks:
- Mild dizziness, light-headedness or mild headache
- Nasal or respiratory discomfort
- Allergic reactions (rare)
- Equipment malfunction (very rare)
- Duration: Typically 30–60 minutes
- Mode: Nasal cannula.
- You may sit or recline comfortably during the session.
